Tufts Lacrosse Player Dies After Choking During Hot Dog-Eating Contest
A Tufts lacrosse player died on Sunday after participating in a student hot dog eating contest, according to the Rockland/Westchester Journal News.
Madelyn Nicpon was participating in the contest on Saturday at a Boston-area home with other students when she choked. First responders performed “extensive life-saving procedures” before transporting her to a local hospital, where she died the next day.
Nicpon was 20.
Thousands of her classmates gathered on Sunday night to remember the lacrosse player, the university said in a statement.
Students placed candles around her No.2 jerseys at the vigil at the Gantcher Center.
“A native of Suffern, New York, Madie was a biopsychology major, a member of the women’s lacrosse team, and an active member of our community,” the statement read. 토토
“In the face of this painful loss, our hearts go out to Madie’s family and friends.”
“We are beyond heartbroken to share the news of the passing of junior Madie Nicpon — ‘Scooter,’” the Tufts lax team wrote on Instagram. “Scooter was a true friend and teammate. She truly valued her relationships with her teammates and coaches.”
“Her reach was far beyond our team — she was a true connector on campus and touched every single person she met.”
They added, “We love you, Scooter. Keep dancing from above.”
Nicpon had played in several games in her first two years for the Jumbos, and was expected to be a key contributor this season.
Services for New York native will be held in Upper Saddle River, New Jersey on Friday and Saturday.

Delonte West Arrested After Encounter With Police
Former NBA guard Delonte West was arrested on Tuesday night following an encounter with Boynton Beach, Fla. police, according to WPTV's Scott Sutton.
West, 38, Per a case report obtained by WPTV, West was screaming profanities and banging on the glass doors of the police department's lobby while holding an open can of Icehouse beer and an open bottle of Mango Vodka.
West reportedly walked away from police. He was ordered to place his alcohol containers on the ground. West complied with that order, but then moved his hands to his waistband. An officer pulled out a Taser. At that point, West cooperated. He reportedly "continued to be belligerent and screaming profanities and obscure rants" when placed in the police car, according to the report. 사설토토
Police said West smelled of alcohol and was slurring his speech. He was charged with "resisting an officer without violence, disorderly intoxication and having an open container," according to WPTV.
West was reportedly released on bail Wednesday morning.

The arrest is a troubling development for West, who entered rehab in 2020. West was involved in two disturbing videos in 2020. Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban got involved, and made sure West went to rehab. Cuban shared encouraging updates on West's recovery.
In January, West got a job working at his rehab center.
